Associate Engineer (Gas Inspectorate/ Inspectorate Dept)

•​ Enforcement Action: Carry out enforcement action on consumer gas installations, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory requirements.• Public Safety Response: Address inquiries related to unsafe gas installations and take decisive regulatory action against parties responsible for causing hazard to the public. Support supervisors in engaging the public and industry to promote safe use of gas through public education and outreach programmes.• Incident Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations into incidents in consumer gas installations and prepare comprehensive reports based on the findings.• Emergency Standby: Perform standby duties after office hours and attend to gas incidents, ensuring swift and effective response.• Regulatory Compliance: Initiate legal proceedings against offenders who have contravened relevant Acts and Regulations, ensuring strict adherence to Regulatory requirements.• Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of Licensed Gas Service Workers, investigate any misconduct, and recommend appropriate regulatory action when necessary.Requirements:• Education in Mechanical Engineering.• 2 years experience in the gas industry or relevant experience in the build environment will have an advantage.• Knowledge of gas safety regulations and enforcement procedures.• Strong technical acumen and the ability to conduct thorough investigations.• Excellent communication skills, independent, self-motivated and able to work effectively under pressure to respond to emergency incidents• Candidates with relevant experience in policy review and formulation, particularly in the public sector and/ or knowledge in the energy markets/regulations/technologies will be assessed favourably.
