Geotechnical Engineer

Job DescriptionResponsibilities:Functionally report to a senior engineer appointed by Department Head;Assume the role as a shift geotechnical engineer and assist Lead Geotechnical Engineer and/or Offshore Manager with various tasks during fieldwork (on domestic and overseas offshore assignments);Perform sample logging and soil classification, and input of data into various geotechnical software packages;Process in situ test data and perform offshore laboratory works;Generate field deliverables including geotechnical logs;Assist in planning and coordinating field investigations;Assign laboratory tests and monitor progress through the laboratory;Maintain clear and organised records of test data;Collect the field operations data from various departments for field reporting purpose;Evaluate field and laboratory test data, and develop foundation soil parameters;Produce reports for final review by senior staff;Perform technical assignments with supervision;Assist other professionals with technical training, proposals, invoices and marketing;Assist senior engineers in related project administrative tasks;Perform other engineering related tasks as and when required;Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on offshore laboratory workflows;Full compliance with Fugro and Client QHSSE requirements.Requirement:Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline or equivalent in education and experience;Ability and availability to be on offshore assignments (domestic and overseas) for 180 days or more per year, on rotation basis. The total stated offshore days per year is non guarantee and may change at any time subject to company’s business needs;Has proven offshore and onshore experience (3 years min) in geotechnical engineering environment, preferably in support of the marine oil & gas, offshore wind farm projects;Report writing skills are necessary, and some ability with data processing would be preferred;Strong ability in verbal and written English (technical) language is essential;Has good teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills.Disclaimer for recruitment agencies: Fugro does not accept any unsolicited applications from recruitment agencies.
